I was watching a video on female infanticide.  There is a practice in China and India in which female babies are murdered by their parents because girls are not valued in those countries.  They give reasons such as "It's a patriarchal system and "Girls are a drain on the family".  The real reason though that girls are devalued in some societies is because of the population growth rate.         When the population of a country is growing due to high birth rate then women will be devalued.  If the birth rate is negative then women will be highly valued.  This takes time though.   This is because when the birth rate is high the ratio of older males to younger females is high.  Women seem to like older men and men seem to like younger women.  I guess my theory could have a flaw if in fact women's attraction to men older themselves is caused by the high birthrate itself.  This could be the case because people tend ...

Moon's interior has much higher water content than previously believed

Moon's interior has much higher water content than previously believed I think planets were formed from snowflakes.     Since water boils at higher altitudes people might conclude that in space water would form a gas.   However when you subject water to a vacuum at room temperature it boils and since the energy to boil comes from the water it freezes.   Anyway more experiments need to be done but what if ice crystals are the key to planet formation?   The term snowball effect can be used to refer to an actual snowball as it rolls over snow it grows in size.  Snow seems to be sticky.  Isn't it possible that ice crystals in space clump together not from gravity but by their clingy-ness.   If you look at a snowflake it forms unique patterns which are full of hooks and things that could easily grab hold of other snowflakes.   They are full of little hooks.   The hooks could explain why snowflakes hook togethe...

Dawn of carnivores explains animal boom in distant past

Dawn of carnivores explains animal boom in distant past This is an interesting study.  To me though it just shows that at one time the oxygen levels were much higher.  We assume that today's conditions are ideal for life.  A person from the distant past though may wonder that we find it natural to live in a world so toxic to life.  What if ideal conditions would result in people living 10 times as long as they do now.  Can you imagine conditions that would cause people to die at 6 years old?  Wouldn't that be considered toxic?  And yet perhaps at one time in the past conditions were such that the oxygen in the atmosphere were higher and it resulted in people living to be 900 years old.  Anyway I don't believe in an evolutionary arms race.  The article seems to be saying that at one time every animal on earth existed.  Isn't that what the Bible says?
